Mahabaleshwar Temple, Famous places, Timings

The Mahabaleshwar was visited by the King Singham of Deogiri from there the Mahabaleshwar got the historic credit. The King Singham constructed a water tank and a temple near the bank of river Krishna. The Mahabaleshwar was ruled by a Brahmin dynasty in 1350 . The Maratha defeated the Brahmin dynasty in the middle of 16th century and then the Maratha became the ruler of the Mahabaleshwar and Javli also, this is the period where the old temple of Mahabaleshwar was constructed.

Later 1839 – 20 the Mahabaleshwar of the present is came into existence , the historical stories says that the Mahabaleshwar use to be known as Malcolm peth But presently it is termed as Mahabaleshwar.

Mahabaleshwar is the best tourist spot as it involves waterfalls, the awesome climate attracting the tourists, streams and as many features to visit. The Mahabaleshwar was also became a famous hill station around  19th century, even the governor of Maharashtra resides in summer for its pleasant climate in Raj Bhavan .

THE FAMOUS TOURISTS SITES

 MONKEY POINT :

This point is located near the Arthur’s seat. This location is called monkey’s point as the rock cut of the rock shows three monkey carved which are portraying Gandhiji’s three monkeys .

LORD MAHABALESHWAR TEMPLE :

The Mahabaleshwar Temple was constructed in 16th century by Chanda Rao, this temple is dedicated to the Lord Shiva. The Mahabaleshwar temple posses the Shiva Lingam and a pond of water which is eye pleasing, aslo the five rivers meet at this pont adjacent to Lakshmibai  temple . This can be viewed daily in the evening around evening.

VENNA LAKE :

This lake offers fishing facilities for the adults and mini trains for kids, also boating facility is also been supported. A perfect place for nature lovers , both kids and adults can have fun enjoying the gentle breeze of lake and getting surrounded with greenery. This lake is available for the visitors from morning to evening.

MAPRO GARDEN (STRAWBERRY):

The Strawberry garden nearby , is the garden full of strawberries. The annual strawberry crop out if sold annually , tourists will allow to see the garden and also to taste fresh strawberries, jellies , jams…etc ,the green plants completely surrounded with strawberries attracts the vision of people.

PRATAPGAD :

The Pratapgad fort is rated to the 3rd position of the best tourist point. This was constructed in 1665 by Maratha ruler, the Pratabgad fort is located at the tip of the hill.

The highlighting point of the temple is upper fort consists of Mahadev temple , the lower fort consists of  matha Bhavani temple and Afzal dargah in the vicinity indicating Unity in diversity.

LINGAMALA  FALLS :

The Lingamala waterfalls  are the perfect site for photography,  these water are splendid during the monsoons.  Also Dhobi and Chinaman’s waterfalls are also nearby Lingamala waterfalls.

 ELEPHANT’S HEAD POINT:

This tourist spot ” Elephants’s Head point ” is also known as  ” Needle Point “, the name elephant’s point is apt able to it as the mountain resembles the shape of elephant’s head . The elephant’s point is famous for echo point.

TAPOLA (MINI KASHMIR) :

Tapola also known as Mini Kashmir , consists of a lake named Shivsagar. This tourist spot is famous for trekking , boating and for adventure.

LODWICK POINT (SYDNEY POINT) :

The Lodwick or Sydney point is named to honor a British officer, who was the first person to climb the hill. Hence the Lodwick Point was named after him, even a 25 feet pole is been placed for his remembrance. The valley full of greenery is pleasant view.
