Araku Valley History

Araku Valley is a Hill station in Visakhapatnam district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India . It is a Valley in the Eastern Ghats inhabited by different tribes. It is located 114 km from Visakhapatnam . The Anantagiri and sunkarimetta reserved forest which is port of Araku valley. This valley is surrounded by mountains like galikonda , raktakonda , Sunkarimetta ,and Chitamogondi . Galikonda hill rising to a height of 5000 feet (150 m) it is one of the height in Andhra Pradesh . The average rainfall  is  1700 mm , bulk of which is received during June – October .

The Valley is connected  through both rail and road to the city of Visakhapatnam . There are two railway stations at Araku on the kothavalasa – kirandul railway line of Visakhapatnam division of the East Coast Railway , on the Indian Railway network . Shimiliguda railway station is located at an altitude of 996 meters above mean sea level.

Coffee was first introduced in Easter Ghats of Andhra Pradesh in 1898 by. Mr. Brodi , a brtisher in pamuleru  Velley in East Godavari district . subsequently , it spread over to pullangi and Araku Valley , Gudem of Visakhapatnam agency tracks. In 1920s . Even though it spread over to Ananthagiri  in Araku valley and Chintapalli  areas . Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation  in the year 1985. In  the year 1956 after the formation of Andhra Pradesh girijan cooperative  corporation Limited (GCC), the Andhra Pradesh Forest Deportment developed coffee plantation in 10100 acres in reserve forest areas

Katiki Waterfalls In Araku

Katiki Waterfalls is named after Katiki, the place where it is located. The waterfall is about 50 ft high and lies around 4 km away from Borra Caves. Katiki Waterfalls originate from the Gosthani River and contains greenery and clear water in its vicinity.

Considered as the most beautiful waterfalls of Araku Valley, the surroundings of this water fall is very popular for trekking activities. At the foot of the waterfall there is a pool formation. During the summer season, Katiki Waterfalls however remain dry.

Bheemunipatnam Beach Araku Valley                            

Bheemunipatnam   Beach , located at the mouth of  the Gosthani River , is a famous  attraction of Araku Valley because of its natural beauty . The sandy beach and the blue sea of this attraction are complimented by all coconut trees ,in the surrounding .situated at the comflunce of Gosthni River and the Bay of Bengal , the beach contains the ruins of 17th century fort and cemetery. This beach is known for the opportunities of exciting water ports  available for the tourists like swimming . well known as Bheemili , the beach has a light house and is a minor port , though it is seldom used now . Ananthagiri Hills Araku

Ananthagiri Hills , most popularly known for their coffee plantation ,located at a distance of 6 km form Vikarabad , these hills are surrounded by the ranges of the Eastern  Ghats

Located at an  elevation  of 1168 meters  along with coffee plantation , these hills contain mango groves and beautiful water falls that flow in to the Valley .

Ananthagiri  hills  can be reached via both road  and rail . The closest rail head to these hills is 3 km away in srikakulam state buses are also available ,in order to reach these hills .

Dumbriguda Waterfalls Araku Valley

Dumbriguda  water falls  is located about 15 km form Araku valley , on the way to Paderu . Its endless streams that cut across big rock formation of Araku Valley .
