The Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh was the grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh constructed the Mahal for the sake of royal women to have the glimpse of fun. Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh was impressed by the Khetri Mahal in Jhunjhunu town constructed by Maharaja Bhopal. The architecture of this Mahal is a blend of Mughal (Islamic) and Rajput (Hindu).<\/p>\n<p>This Mahal is also known as &#8220;The Palace of Wind&#8221;, the construction materials used in its construction are the red and pink sandstone, with many fine windows which help the royal women to view the public and the outside world by following their custom. , as the royal women are not permitted to go outside. so to have a view of outside world the Hawa Mahal was constructed.<\/p>\n<p>The Mahal is in the shape of the Lord Krishna&#8217;s crown. The Mahal shows 953 windows in it, it is a huge five-storeyed palace which is 15 Meters high. The Mahal looks more elegant during the sunrays falls over it especially during sunrise and sunset.
