The Kalighat Kali Temple is situated on the course of Bhagirathi (Hoogly River). The Kalighat Kali Temple is one of the 4 main shakti peethas of the 51 shakti peetas of goddess Sathi. It is said that goddess Sathi\u2019s right foot toes fell here in the Kalighat and in dedication a Kali temple is built. The idol of the goddess Kali was incomplete in the olden days later the hands made up of gold and silver and the tongue are added to the idol. The temple was earlier was just a hut later it was developed.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>The Kalighat Kali Temple shows:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h3><strong>Sosthi Tala:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>The Sosthi Tala is a rectangular altar which about 3 feet high bearing a small plant of Opuntia (Cactus).On the altar, 3 stones are placed side by side (Sosthi and Sitola and Manosha Tala). At Sosthi Tala all the priest are females, unlike other temples. Here no daily worships or rituals are followed. Simple flowers and garlands are offered.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Harkath Tala:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>The Harkath Tala is adjacent to the Natmondir, in the south direction it is meant for sacrifice or Bhai. Harkath Tala shows two peets for sacrifice the large peet for buffalo sacrifice and the small one for goat sacrifice.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Radha- Krishna Temple:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>The Radha Krishna Temple is situated inside the temple in the west direction to the main shrine. The Radha Krishna temple is also known as Shamo \u2013 Ray Temple. For the Radha \u2013 Krishna deities a special vegetarian bhog is prepared in a separate kitchen.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Kundupukur:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Outside the temple boundaries in the south-east direction, there is a sacred tank known as Kudupukur. It is considered as much sacred as holy river Ganga.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>Holy dip in this sacred water is famous as it is considered it gives a boon to have a child.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Nakhuleshwar Mahadev Temple:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Opposite side of the Kali Temple the Nakhuleshwar Mahadev Temple exists. This is also a very old temple as like the Kali Temple.
