Sun Temple Chhath Puja History, Timings, Procedure, Benefits<\/p>\n

The Chhat Puja is usually accustomed to the Sun temple, this ritual is followed to the god of energy.The Chhat Puja is a famous festival celebrated with the dedication to the Sun god. It is a four-day celebration, devotees follow various customs during the Chhat Puja. Devotees especially women (Pavitrins) fast for 36 hours and offer bhog to the Sun god.<\/p>\n

FOUR DAY CELEBRATIONS OF Sun Temple Chhath Puja:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Day 1 of Chhath Puja – Nahai Khai (Bath & Eat)<\/strong><\/td>\n\u00a0Bath in Holy River Ganges.<\/p>\n

Prepare prasad with the holy river water.<\/p>\n

Prasad should be cooked or prepared in Soil\/ Bronze utensils on mud stove.<\/p>\n

Should have only one day meal (kaddu-bhat).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Day 2 of Chhath Puja – Kharna or Lohanda<\/strong><\/td>\nNirjala vrath (Fast whole day without water)<\/p>\n

Prasad involves Rasiao-kheer, fruits, puris or Rotis.<\/p>\n

Especially Women fast 36 hrs after this puja.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Day 3 of \u00a0Chhath Puja – Chhath<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Note: Kosi is performed on the 3rd <\/sup>day of Chhath puja.<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Kosi is especially celebrated in those families where child births\/marriages are taken place)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1 day celebration<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Earthen lamps are lightened and placed beneath the 5 sugarcane covering denoting solar energy<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/td>\n

Sanjhiya Arghya ritual is performed on the banks of the river in evening.<\/p>\n

Puja offerings (Thekua, coconut, banana and other seasonal fruits) are prepared.<\/p>\n

These puja offerings are offered to Sun god by keeping all these offerings in a bamboo tray.<\/p>\n

The women (pavitrins) wear turmeric coloured saree and offer Arghya by chanting Gayatri mantra to the evening sun at the river banks.<\/p>\n

Day 4 of Chhath Puja – Paarun or Bihaniya Arghya<\/strong><\/td>\nDevotees reach river banks prior to sunrise<\/p>\n

Offer bhog\/prasad to the Sun god during the Sunrise<\/p>\n

After puja devotees break their fast using ginger\/sugar<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
