Karkuvel Ayyanar Temple is one of the popular temples located in Therikudiyiruppu. This temple is one of the ancient temples which are about 500 to 1000 years old. This temple is located near the Red Sand Desert and the cashew and the palm trees surrounding the temple add extra beauty to the temple. The Red Sand Desert surrounding the temple is the only desert located in South India. It is a belief that there are no thefts in and around this temple and its village. The temple in honour to god celebrated the Kallar Vettu festival which means killing the Robber. It is believed that god protects the land of Therikudiyiruppu<\/p>\n
