The road and area has transformed over the years. Now it is more like an avenue square where locals and tourists take leisure walks or just sit on benches laid along the middle and both sides of the road to enjoy the ambiance. The road is having shops, restaurants, cafes and bars on either side. The annual Gangtok Food and culture festival is held here in the month of December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entire park is themed on Shaman culture and you can see Sikkimese architecture visible all across the park. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the 100-foot waterfall located in the Landscaped park with the forested area of about 7KM from Gangtok town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is also a manmade lake here with a dragon at the center. You can do paddle boating at the lake. The entire park is themed on Shaman culture and you can see Sikkimese architecture visible all across the park. There are Belvedere at several points where you can relax while enjoying the view of the flowing stream that forms at the bottom of the waterfall and the greenery all around. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This epic hill is with a giant statue of the Guru Padmasambhava also known as the Guru Rinpoche. The sponsor saint of Sikkim has been showering its blessings since 1200 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statue is 45m tall, overlooking the whole city. The\nstatue is silded with gold that glitters when the sunlight falls over it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The repository within the premises of the statue\nhas a profound collection of historical photographs of Sikkim also including\nthe fading photos of Mahatma Gandhi, come as a delight for the history\nbuffs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foundation stone for the statue was laid by\nDalai Lama in the year 1997. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are on a family trip\navoid visiting Cholamu Lake and visit the Gurudongmar Lake instead. However, if\nweather permits, and you get a permit easily then opt for Cholamu Lake. Since\nmostly no travel agencies risk their vehicles and driver in this risky terrain\nyou can trek up to this stunning lake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the early phase of 1975, Sikkim became a part of India. Again with the recent development in the relation between India and China, there are possibilities in reopening the Jelep La Pass.
