The Museum is one of the most famous in North East India as it was rich in the culture of ancient as well as modern history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The museum was established in 1940 and was set up by Kamarupa Anusandhan Samiti to showcase the sculpture, history, and handicrafts of North East India. In the year 1953, the museum was under control of the state immediately after the death of Kanklal Baruah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Inside Museum: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Museum consists of different segments which display the different sect of history. Manuscript section, Arms and ammunition section, prehistoric terracotta section, numismatics and metallic sculptures section, epigraphy section are the different sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manuscript section showcases ancient manuscripts of\nAssamese, Myanmar\u2019s and Tai. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arms and Ammunition section showcases the swords, armors (band) of Medieval and Mughal Period and also the ammunition from World War II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prehistoric Terracotta Section is about the Indus\nValley Civilization and terracotta objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Numismatics and metallic sculpture section showcase the collection of Vishnu, Buddha and Goddess Durga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Epigraphy section shows the collection of Stone and copper inscription of the 5<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 18<sup>th<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assam State Museum Guwahati Timings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>10:00 AM to 5:00 PM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Holidays:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mondays, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> &amp; 4<sup>th<\/sup> Saturdays<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Time to be spent:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2-3 Hours<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assam State Museum Guwahati Entry fee<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rs 5 per person<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Photograph:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photography and Videos are allowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>How to Reach:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guwahati Airport to the State Museum \u2013 Approximately\n30 KM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guwahati Railway Station to the State Museum \u2013 650 M<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guwahati Bus Station to the State Museum \u2013 400 M<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tourists have to reach through cab or the local\ntransportation available in the city.
