The Government Museum and the Art Gallery in Chandigarh are the famous museums in India that speak about the history and the partition. The Chandigarh Museum is known for its rich collection of paintings, sculptures and the artefacts that are established in August 1947. The design of this museum was designed by Le Corbusier and MS Randhawa on 6th<\/sup> May of 1968 inaugurated the museum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The main task of this museum is to encourage the\nvalues of art and bring close to the lives of people through their rich\ncollection and innovative programs. After the partition of India and Pakistan, the important painting and sculptures are at the central museum in Lahore. After the separation of India and Pakistan in 1947 the souvenirs, artefacts and statues were divided between the 2 countries. 60% of the collections went to Pakistan on April 10, 1948. At April 1949 the collections that are in India were shifted to various cities like Amritsar, Shimla and Patiala and finally settled at the Government Museum and Art Gallery of Chandigarh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Collection at the Museum:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Museum is divided into 7 sections and each section different sections. The place exhibits the sculptures of ancient India, Gandhara Period, and Medieval India etc. The natural history section of the museum displays dinosaurs in India, the evolution of man and ancient manuscripts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The museum is known for its extra-ordinary\narchitecture as it displays the historic collections of paintings, artefacts\nand sculptures.
