Rock Garden is located in the beautiful city of Chandigarh. The Garden is the place with vast open-air hall that displays art made from Industrial and Urban Wastes. These are displayed with the help of Nek Chand, Former road Inspector of Chandigarh. As the sculpture is designed and executed by Nek Chand the Rock Garden is also called Nek Chand\u2019s Rock Garden. This vast garden is spread across 40 acres of land with colorful ornaments of art pieces and sculptures.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

History<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nek Chand in the year 1957 the Rock Garden was built. The Garden is done on single hand in his leisure time and became the out-standing symbol of novelty and imaginations in the city. The Garden houses about a total of 5000 statues. The rock garden is the best example of the saying \u201cBest from Waste\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Places to visit in Rock Garden<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rock garden is divided into 3 different phases with different types of themes. The Garden has an artificial interlinked waterfall and many other arts that are made out of waste bangles, tiles, glass, bottles, electric waste, sinks, ceramic pots and many more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sculptures are made out of ceramic and are divided into 3\nparts-<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part 1:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The way is with terracotta pots, chambers, and niches that are decorated with tube light pieces, broken bangles, mirrors, toilet fixtures, and tiles. Statues of various human figures, birds, and animals made out of waste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part 2:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2nd<\/sup> part of the rock garden consists of a waterfall and is a major crowd puller in the garden. The open-air auditorium, courtyards, and intricate pathways are the primary features of this part. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part 3:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This part houses large life installations of elephants and\ncamels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celebrations\nat Rock Garden<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teej Festival is pomp celebrated in the rock garden and is a special attraction for the visitors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From April to September the timings are from 9:00 AM to 7:00\nPM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From October to March the timings of the Garden are from 9:00\nAM to 6:00 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time to be\nspent<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

4-5 hours is required to see the attractions in the Rock Garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entry Fee<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entry fee for the Adults is Rs 30 per person and for\nChildren is Rs 10 per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photography<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cameras are allowed inside the garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to\nReach<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One can reach the Rock Garden from Sukhna Lake in just 10 minutes by taxi and it takes nearly half-an-hour by walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Amritsar to Rock Garden its 228 KM which takes nearly 4 hours on road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
