The Jail is also referred to as the Kala Pani where Kala means Death or Time and Pani means Water in Sanskrit. Britishers imprisoned the political leaders of India who are actively participating in the freedom struggle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The jail at present is the public view as National Memorial and the museum shows how India\u2019s struggle for freedom over the years. The jail is designed with seven straight wings which are connected to the tower. The bricks were brought from Burma for construction purpose. The jail has the tower as the intersection point of the 7 wings that serves as the watchpoint for guards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The wings are the 3-stored buildings that are constructed in such a way that the cell in the row would not communicate with the next cell or the front cell prisoners. The corals at the Jolly Buoy are simply amazing. The Mill was constructed in 1883 by Colonial Regime. The\ntimber is the main source obtained as the raw material from the dense forest of\nthe Chatham Island. In front of the Museum, one can see the skeleton of the baby blue whale that was found on the shores of Andaman Beach.
