Similar collections of Jantar\nMantar of 5 such observatories are located in Jaipur, Ujjain, Mathura and\nVaranasi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jantar Mantar consists of the stonework built with astronomical instruments which work well now as in olden days. This was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. This monument is built out of rubble, bricks and plastered with lime. The instruments used in this construction were repaired and restored making some significant alterations from time to time. This place houses 4 primary devices- Samrat Yantra, Ram Yantra, Misra Yantra, and the Jai Prakash. They are Samrat Yantra, Misra Yantra, Jayaprakash. Samrat Yantra is the giant triangle with a height of 70 feet, 114 feet long and 10 feet thick. Misra Yantra was designed to measure the longest and shortest days of the year. This Yantra also denotes the exact time of noon at different locations from Delhi. This is the only tool designed by Raja Jai Singh. Eventually, Jai Singh wanted to define a precise calendar and accurate astrological predictions for individual and social benefit. To achieve these things, he built Jantar Mantar in 1724 and it is the first observatory built in Delhi. Eventually this type of observatories was built in Jaipur, Varanasi, Ujjain and Mathura. Gradually in 1867, these observatories were worsened a bit.
