The present temple is called as the Kailash Mahameru\nPrasada is of Chalukya Style Architecture the exhibits the inherent Skill of\nSompuras. &nbsp;The temple is the best example\nof Indian temple architecture from the past and is built by the Somraj, the\nMoon God with the Gold. Later the reconstruction was done with the Silver by\nRavan. Again Lord Krishna built it with wood and in the 10th century, the\ntemple is rebuilt with the stones by Bhimdev Solanki King. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1950, the construction of the temple which you see now is\nbeen started and is the 7<sup>th<\/sup> temple built in regard to Lord Somnath\nwho was known as the Bhairaveshwar in Satya Yug, Shringaleshwar in Dwapar Yug\nand Sharavanikeshwar in Treta Yug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mythological Story<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As the Soma the Moon disobeyed the words of his\nfather-in-law Daksha, out of anger he cursed Soma \u201cThou Shalt Wane\u201d. Till then\nthe moon used to shine in full all the night started to shrink. Out of other\ngods\u2019 requests, Daksha revoked his curse and told Soma to have a dip in the\nriver Saraswati and pray Lord Shiva. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Somnath Mandir is mentioned proudly even in Rig-Veda and is\nknown as the \u201cProtector of the Moon God\u201d.
