The Dwarkadhish Temple is located\nin Mathura and is one of the ancient and biggest temples in the city. This\nDwarkadhish Temple in Mathura is the only place where Lord Krishna lived as a\nKing. The temple houses Lord Krishna in the Black Marble and Shri Radha Rani is\nin White marble. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dwarkadhish temple in Mathura was built in only a year of 1814 by Seth Gokul Das on the banks of Yamuna River and is known for its architecture and paintings. Since 1930 the temple was gifted to Pustimarga Girgharlal Archarya Ji to offer to worship Lord Krishna and from then the deity is offering worships according to the Archarya Ji pattern. Thousands and thousands of pilgrims visit the place every day to offer prayers to Lord Krishna. The paintings on the ceiling showcases the life story of Lord Krishna. The\ncomplex has large premises and is the 5-storeyed building with 72 limestone\npillars that consist of Prakashgarh, Sabahgarh, and Shikhar. The height of the\nShikhar is 157 Feet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The temple has 2 main entrance gates Moksha Dwaar and Swarg\nDwaar, 2 types of Shikharas &#8211; Nij Shikhar and Ladwa Shikhar. Lord Krishna\nhouses Nij Shikhar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main building resembles the Rajasthani Style\nArchitecture with paintings of Lord Krishna Life in Dwarka as a King on the\nceilings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Brahmi Script, the 1<sup>st<\/sup> renovation is\ndone in 100 BC, in 800 BC when Adi Shankaracharya visited the temple the 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\nrenovation is done and he established AdyaShakti on the 4<sup>th<\/sup> floor of\nthe temple. In 1241 AD the temple was attacked and destroyed by Muhammad Shah\nand 5 Brahmins were dead. Between 15<sup>th<\/sup> -16<sup>th <\/sup>Centuries\nthe temple was enlarged by the Local Merchants and rulers. Pakistan Navy tried\nto attack the temple in 1965 but they failed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dwarkadhish\nTemple Mathura History<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p> Dwarkadhish Temple Mathura carries many legends some of them are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gopi Lake<\/strong> \u2013 Lord\nKrishna never returned to Mathura after leaving the place. Gopis came to Dwarka\nfrom Mathura to meet Krishna and performing Ras Leelas with Lord Krishna they\noffered their lives to the place and the lake is named as <em>Gopi Talav.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kamsa uncle of Lord Krishna, brother of Devaki, the ruler of Mathura was greatly influenced by his Father-in-law Jarasandha. He used to torture the people of Mathura. Another Version is Lord Krishna asked Vishwakarma to build a new\ncity and he named it Dwarka. So Vishwakarma suggested that it is possible to\nbuild on Samudra Deva. Lord Krishna worshipped God of Sea for the Land and\nSamudhra Deva gave 12 Yojanas of Land and Vishwakarma built the city of Dwarka.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The water of the Sea will be very calm and quiet on some of\nthe timings and the journey to the temple will be at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Festivals\nCelebrated at Dwarka<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The temple celebrates grandly the birth of Krishna known as\nSri Krishna Janmashtami, Annakut Utsav celebrated on the 1<sup>st<\/sup> day of\nthe Kartika Masam,&nbsp; Tulsi Vivah that\nstarts on the 11<sup>th<\/sup> day of Karthika Masam, Holi, Akshaya Tritiya\ncelebrated on the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> day of Vaishaka Masam, Rath Yatra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dress Code <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The temple allows devotees with formal and decent looking\ndresses.
