Chatham Saw Mill History:

Chatham Sawmill is the largest Sawmill of Asia, also it is the Oldest Sawmill. This Sawmill was established in the year 1883. The mill started with the second handed materials and machines imported to Chatham Island. This mill was the main source to meet the timber needs. This sawmill is taken care by Forest Department. The Andaman Islands are not only known for the scenic beauty but also popular for the ancient historic monuments like the Cellular Jail, for antique pieces the marine museums, the national parks apart from these the sawmill is an extra credit to the tourism list of Andaman. One can easily reach Andaman and Nicobar Island by means of air, water, by rail or by road. The museum exhibits various wooden carved exhibits. This is one of the giant mills especially dedicated to timber.
