The Tripura Sundari Temple is located at a distance of 55 kilometres away from Agartala. The Tripura Sundari Temple is one of the 51 Sakthi peets of goddess Sathi. The Tripura Sundari Temple consists of a square shaped sanctum which resembles a typical Bengali hut. This temple has a conical dome on the squared sanctum. This temple is also known as Kurma Pitha as its shape resembles the shape of the tortoise (Kurma).
The Tripura Sundari Temple shows the idol of goddess Kali which is made of reddish black kastti pathar (stone), the idol of goddess Kali is about 5 feet. The temple also shows another idol of the goddess known as Chotti Maa (Smaller size Kali ) which is about 2 feet.
The Eastern side of the Tripura Sundari Temple shows a famous Kalyan Sagar Lake which houses fishes and huge sized tortoises, which adds extra glimpse to the Tripura Sundari Temple. Devotees feed these fishes with Muri (puffed rice) and biscuits.
According to the legends, the toe of the right foot of Mata Sati fell here and hence the Tripura Sundari Temple is one of the Sakthi Peeth of the 51 Shakthi peets. The temple follows daily rituals and other routine formalities. During Diwali people from all over the country visit this temple. During this festival special Mela is been conducted at the temple, the lights, the decoration, special bhogs..etc attracts the pilgrims.
