Kashi Annapurna Temple
Kashi Annapurna Temple was constructed in 1729 AD by Maratha Peshwa Baji Rao. The construction style is Nagara Architecture.
The legend says that once goddess Parvati closed all three eyes of her husband Lord Shiva. Then whole world was filled with darkness. Goddess Parvati lost her fair complexion, which means her Gauri form. Lord Shiva suggested her to donate food in Kashi. Hence, Goddess Parvati’s Kitchen is in Varanasi and she offers food to all in Varansi with a golden Pot and ladle. That’s why her name is Mata Annapurna Devi, in Varanasi.
Another legend says that once Lord Shiva commented that the entire world is Maya(illusion). Goddess Parvati, got angry and decide to demonstrate the importance of food by making all the food disappear. The whole world was suffered and starved also. Then Lord Shiva came to Goddess Parvati for asking food, that makes her happy and she offered food by her own hands to Lord Shiva with golden pot and ladle.
