The Dakshineswar Kali Temple located on the banks of river Ganges. The Dakshineswar Kali Temple is near to Bally Bridge of Kolkata. The Dakshineswar Kali Temple is dedicated to goddess Kali, goddess Kali is worshipped as Bhavatarini which means the redeemer of the whole Universe. The temple daily receives nearly 40,000 devotees daily.

The main temple of the main deity is known as Navaratna temple which resides the idol of goddess Bhaatarini standing on the prostrate body of Lord Shiva. Beside the main temple, there are a total of 12 temples which are dedicated to Lord Shiva hosting the Shiva Lingams.

SHIVA TEMPLES :

          These temples are built in the Bengali style of architecture “Aat Chala”, there are about 12 Shiva temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, surrounding the main temple near to the river banks of river Ganges

VISHNU TEMPLE :

          This temple is also known as the Radha Kanta temple which hosts the idols of Lord Krishna which is about 21 and inches and 16 inches Radha idol. The Vishnu temple is on the northeastern fringes of the temple complex.

NAVAHAT  KHANA  :

          Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa spent some of his journey of life in this place “Navahat Khana”. He offered Phalharini Kali Puja to Sri Sarada Maa. The Legends like Swami Vivekananda and Keshab Chandra Sen are the followers of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa.

          The Durga Puja / Kali Puja is dedicated to goddess Kali, this festival is a prominent festival celebrated in the states of West Bengal, Orissa and Assam. This festival coincides with the festival of Diwali. A blend of the Tantric and hindu style of worship is dedicated to goddess Kali. This festival is widely celebrated in the Kalighat and the  Dakshineswar temples.
