Sivadol is one of the holiest place of Sivasagar (Assam) which consists of three Hindu temples, the Sivadol, Visnudol and the Devidol also shows other shrines along with a beautiful museum. This temple is located on the banks of the ocean of Lord Shiva (Sivasagar) also a tank known as Borpukhuri.

The Borpukhuri was built in 1731 to 1738 and the temple was constructed in the year 1734 by the Bar Raja Ambika, the Queen of Ahom King Swargadeo Siba Singha. The height of the temple is about 104 feet and 195 feet base.

The Sivadol is highlighted with eight  “8 feet high golden dome”. According to Assamese dol means temple, Sivadol means Lord Shiva Temple.This is the tallest Shiva temple in India.

The walls of the temples were carved with many beautiful sculptures. The temple is famous for its architecture and for its divinity which is always being filled with devotees.

As the temples are fond of its beauty and divinity shows a great diversity of people visiting Sivadol. The festivals like Mahashivratri, Durga pooja…etc are been widely celebrated.
