The Manipur State Museum of Imphal was inaugurated by Indira Gandhi The Prime Minister of India in the year 1969. The museum is also popular for the tourist spot. The Museum exhibits various galleries related to natural history, ethnology and archaeology.
The museum features a 54 feet long royal boat named Hiyag Hiren which is placed in the open gallery. The way the museum exhibits the artefacts, the war weapons, the ancient polo equipment and the tribal clothing is arranged and exhibited in a spectacular way.
