The Unakoti is a famous Shiva pilgrim spot. According to the ancient stories, the Unakoti has established accordingly, Once Lord Shiva along with One Crore (1 Crore) of goddesses along with Lord Shiva moving to Khasi. At night during their journey to Kasi, Lord Shiva made a halt at the Unakoti location and said they should be awaked before sunrise so that they could proceed to Kasi. But no one was awoken during Sunrise except Lord Shiva.

Then Lord Shiva cursed all the other deities that they would become the stone images and left himself to Kasi. Hence the Unakoti shows one crore images less than one that is   99lakhs 99 thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine deities were carved out of the rock of Unakoti hills. There are many ancient stories one says that a blacksmith with his worship was about to carve one crore deities but couldn’t make it so hence the name Unakoti that is less than one crore.

The Unakoti hill along with devotion also sprinkles the essence of pleasant nature including sparkling waterfalls, green grass..etc.
