The Shravan Mela is celebrated for 30 days, during this Mela devotees collect the holy water of river Ganges from Sultanganj. Devotees carry the holy water in their Kanwars and place on their shoulders and take the holy water to Baba Baidyanath temple by walk. The devotees with their Kanwars walk through a distance of 105 kilometres from Sultanganj to Baidyanath temple. During this session, Kanwarias (Devotees carrying Kanwaras) will be highly cautious about their food and hygiene. Food without garlic, onions and zinger is been consumed and follow a hygienic custom.

The Kanwarias offer the holy water of river Ganges to the Jyothir Ling of Baidyanath temple. But before offering this holy water devotee have a holy dip in ShivaGanga. During this eve all the Kanwarias wear saffron coloured clothes and chanting Bam Bam Bole.

          Do’s :

• Offer Prayer and Worship
• Holy Dip in River Ganges (Sultanganj)
• Carry holy water in Kanwarias (Pots) from river Ganges
• (Kanwarias) Walk a distance of 105 kilometres from Sultanganj to Baidyanath temple.
• Bath in the ShivGanga and offer Ganga Jal from Kanvaras to Shiv Lingam

          Don’ts :

• Food without garlic, ginger and onions should be consumed
• Kanwarias should be highly  hygienic
