Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the famous attractions of Goa. The sanctuary is spread across 8 sq. km and is located 3000 feet above the foothills of Western Ghats. The Sanctuary is located near Usgao, a small town at the junction of Ponda, Sattari, and Sanguem Talukas. The place is home to a wide variety of animal life. The Hindu Carvings are found in the Sanctuary garden of Bondla.

The sanctuary is a popular spot with Leopards and dancing bears. The Bondla National Park is a paradise of Rose Garden, Botanical Garden, and Deer Park within the premises. One can have a jeep safari within the deer park.

The national park also provides a mini zoo, Elephant rides, fenced deer park, lush forests, botanical garden and many more. The Bondla Sanctuary is the most favorite spot for the school children who come for excursions. Elephant ride is one of the tourist attractions for both children as well as adults. The Sanctuary is the combination of the moist deciduous forests and patches of evergreen forests. Tourists can also find the medicinal herbs, orchids and roots from local to tropical forests and also the bamboo plantations and Terminalia Crenulata trees, Rosewood, Kindall, Lagerstroemia, and Mimusops and many more.

Fauna in Bondla Zoo Park

The sanctuary houses a number of animals like Leopards, Sloth Bear, Pythons, Jackals, Deers, Wild Boars, Bison, Porcupines, Peacocks, Toddy Cats and variety of Snakes, crocodiles, etc. The park also houses birds and is the paradise for the bird-lovers. One can view Brown Fish Owl, Indian Scimitar Babbler, Ruby-Throated yellow bulbul, and Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher.

The National Park will be open from morning 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and the park will be closed on Mondays.

Best time to Visit the Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary

Tourists visit the place in the months between October to June. Avoid monsoons as the place experience huge rainfall.

How to Reach the Sanctuary

The distance from Goa Airport to the Wildlife Sanctuary is 49 KM and the tourists have to travel for nearly 1 and a half hours to reach the place.

Panjim Bus station to the Sanctuary is 45 KM and has to travel for 1 hour to reach.

Madgaon Junction to the Sanctuary is 36 KM and is an hour journey.
