The Dwarkadhish temple (Jagat Mandir) located at Dwarka, Gujarat, India. Dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is worshipped as (Dwarkadhish) the “King of Dwarka”. It became a part of Char Dham yatra after the visit of Audisankaracharya(8th century)and other philosophers this temple is regarded as 108th Divya Desam of Lord Vishnu. The main shrine is been supported by 72 pillars known as Jagat Mandir or Nija Mandir. The architecture of the temple gives a holistic beauty to the temple. The temple covers area of 27 meters, The tallest peak of the temple is 51.8 meters high.
Dwarkadish Temple History
The term Dwarkadhish refers to Lord Krishna, who is regarded as lord of Dwaraka. Dwarakadish is one of the four pilgrimages located in Dwaraka(Gujrat) established in the 15th century. Dwarka is regarded as the gateway to moksha. The main shrine of the temple shows the idols of Trivikrama(main idol), Baldevali, pradyumna & Aniruddha with other deities. The whole Dwarkadish temple is built of limestone.
Religious Importance
- The flag hoisted on the top of the temple shows sun & moon.
- It symbolizes that Lord Krishna will be with his devotees till the sun & moon exists.
- Though the flag is been changed (5 times) but still the symbol on the flag doesn’t change.
- The temple shows 2 entrances =
- The main entrance (north entrance) is called “Moksha Dwara” (Door to Salvation).
(This entrance takes one to the main market).
- The south entrance is called “Swarga Dwara” (Gate of Heaven).
(Outside this doorway are 56 steps that lead to the Gomati River).

By Road
- State Transport Corporation buses ply to all important places in Surat, Ahmedabad, and Dwarka from different areas in Gujarat.
By Train
- Dwarka Railway Station (1 km or 0.6 miles).
By Air
- There are no regular flights from other major cities of the country to Dwarka.
- The nearest airport is at Porbandar.
