The capital city of Mizoram Aizawl showcases the Mizoram State Museum. The museum of Aizawl is discussed as the multipurpose and ethnological museum, as the Mizoram State Museum showers the past glories and the anthropological stories of history. The Mizoram State Museum established in the year 1977 of April. This museum was born by the credit of the Tribal Research Institute under the Education.

Later in 1989, the responsibility of handling the museum was commenced by the Art and Culture Department.The terrace or the top floor of the museum exhibits the Archeological excavations, the stones of ancient periods of Mizoram, the minerals..etc. The Archeological department was found on either side of the top floor. The Maharaja Chandra Kirti Singh (1850 to 1886 AD) archaeological objects were also been exhibited. Approximately more than 2500 objects were found in the museum.

Mizoram State Museum Opening Timings :

Monday  to  Friday – 9 am to 5 pm

Saturday  – 9 am  to  1 pm

Sunday  – closed  (on government Holidays)

Mizoram State Museum Entry Fee :

Adults Rs 20 /-
Child Rs 10 /-
50% concession for School children accompanied by teachers.
Senior citizen: Free Entry

Note :

  • Bags, Snacks, Food packets,..etc are not allowed in the museum.
  • Drinking and Smoking are prohibited.
