Modhera Sun Temple History:
Modhera Sun Temple dedicated to the great “Solar Deity Sun” located in a village Modhera (a village in Gujarat). The Surya Temple has resided on the river banks of the river Pushpavati. This temple of the Solar Deity Sun was constructed during the reign of Bhima I of the Chanukya Dynasty that is after 1026 – 27 CE. But presently no worships or any kind of prayers are been offered to the Solar Deity Sun. This temple is protected as the monument by the “Archaeological Survey of India”. This ancient temple has three main parts namely the Gudhamandapam, the Sabhamandapa and the Kunda. The temple has a great architecture with a great carving. The temple celebrates the “Modhera Dance Festival”, with a great passion.
