1.Spread Eagle Falls, Shillong

Spread Eagle Falls is the huge falls in Shillong. It is also known as Sati Falls. It is a precipitous fall. The waterfall streams over the hill and increases the force and flows downstream with a huge force. The fall is known as Spread Eagle because the fall looks like an eagle which spread its wing wide.

As there is no proper road connectivity to the falls a few years back, the area is not popular and famous destination spot. Later, the department of tourism took initiation to popularize the place and constructed better and safer roads.

2. Shillong Golf Course

Shillong Golf Course is located in the East Khasi Hills in the beautiful valley with dense Pine and Rhododendron forests. The club is the large, old and finest golf circuits across the world.

For its maintenance and beauty, US Golf Association and Museum entitled the place as ‘Gleneagle of the East’. In 1898, the golf club is established with 9-hole golf course and the hols extended to the 18-hole course with Captain Jackson and CK Rhodes in 1924. The Golf Course is popular for nature lovers, experience seekers, fun lovers, bird lovers. The sounds made by the birds in the Golf Club will feel the heart with music.

3. Ever Living Museum in Shillong

The Ever Living Museum is the perfect place for the people who are in love with nature, tradition, culture, posterity and history. The museum is operated and owned by retired Meghalayan engineer Kyntiewbor War.

The Museum consists of the Main Museum, Stone Museum and Wild Orchids Garden with wild fruits and flowers. The Museum is constructed in 50,000 square feet and tourists can feel peace with nature. The museum is surrounded by plum, pears and other wild fruit trees. The museum is home for 100 varieties of Orchids and wildflowers and 25 varieties of ferns.

The main museum houses weapons used by the ancient and modern tribes of Meghalaya. It also houses the things used by tribes like musical instruments, household items. In the stone museum 30 types of stones houses and also the small-scaled baskets, sieves and fish traps which are made of bamboo. The museum also exhibits the ancient jewellery and dresses of the 3 types of tribes – The Khasi, Garos and Rabha of Meghalaya.

4. Orchidarium in Shillong

As the place Shillong is in the wettest land with heavy downpours the weather is like a natural air conditioner and can easily grow Orchids. The soil in the Meghalaya is very fertile. Meghalaya is the home for some of the rear exotic species of flora.

The special natural orchid is set up in orchidarium where the large variety of Orchids attracts a number of visitors. The Orchidarium is very uncommon and is the first in the City of Shillong and can see all the species which are also been imported from abroad.
