1. Rabdentse Ruins

Rabdentse Ruins is the archaeological site that tells the glory of Sikkim. This is the best place to visit in Sikkim Gangtok for the history lovers. It is the 2nd capital of Sikkim, established by Chogyal II. In the 18th century, the palace and monastery complex was destructed and turned into ruins. The ruins of Rabdentse Palace are just a walk away from Pemayangtse Monastery through the dense forest on the way to Pelling.

As one enters the gate, the chestnut trees welcome the visitors by dropping mosses on them and leads to the stone throne comprising 3 standing stones known as “Namphogang” where the judges used to give the final judgment.   

The bird lovers can rejoice themselves by spotting some of the rare Himalayan birds. The Khecheopalri Lake sprawled amidst the scared Khecheopalri Hill is just 26 KM away from here, which one can visit to get enlightened spiritually.

2. Bakthang Waterfall Gangtok

Bakthang is a small waterfall located on the North Sikkim Highway in Gangtok. It is one of the beautiful place and the popular waterfalls in Gangtok. This waterfall is situated near the Tashi View Point.

The fall is originated from Ratey Chu, the main water source of Gangtok area. It flows down from the rock and form a small pool. This place is the best sight to take photography though the height of the fall is not much.

One can get the bird’s eye view of the region and the thrilling experience on a Rope Sliding here even it is only a short slide.

3. Rimbi Waterfall Sikkim

Rimbi waterfall is 5 KM from Darap Village, Pelling. It is surrounded by the lush green vegetation and blessed with a calm ambiance. Tourists can refresh their tired senses by spending some time with nature in these astonishing Waterfalls. Rimbi Waterfall is an ideal place for relaxing and admiring the wonders of nature. Tourists can be spotted meditating near the Waterfall.

These Waterfalls from the Rimbi River which also serves as the key source of water for nearby villages. Fishing can be relished at this Waterfall. This Waterfall is the perfect place to gaze at the tantalizing beauty and feel the cool sprays of pure water during Monsoon.

One can also enjoy a short trek to reach this Rimbi Waterfall.

4. Flower Exhibition Centre – Ridge Park

The Flower Exhibition Centre can find many varieties of Orchids and other flowers most of the year, but the best time to visit this place is around April-May (spring season), when the management gathers and showcases fresh varieties of orchids and other flowers from around the state.

The Ridge Park is a site developed for visitors and is a small stretch of plain straight road leading to the Palace gate.

This is situated just below the Ridge Park and adjacent to the White Memorial Hall that draws numerous visitors during the annual flower exhibition. The climate of Sikkim is exceedingly conducive to cultivate orchids and other variety of flowers. The Government of Sikkim invites participants from the neighboring states also to participate in the annual flower show contest.

This place is just about 15 minutes’ walk from the main market. The white memorial is a small 2-storied building and has typical British architecture. A statue of Nehru, the late Prime Minister of India, adorns the roundabout above White Hall. The Ridge is lined with ornamental plants and trees which when bloom are a riot of colors.

5. River Rafting Sikkim

In Sikkim, River Teesta and its tributary Rangit, offers the best routes for River Rafting. If one wants to add some thrill in life, come and get plugged in icy, crystal clear blue water of river Teesta for White Water River Rafting, which is one of the latest adventure sports in Sikkim.

A helmet, a life jacket, a pair of oars and a tiny float called a “Raft” will make you hit the challenging waters of the turbulent Teesta and Rangit.

6. Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden Sikkim

Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden encompasses rare plants, trees and various species of flowers including Orchids of the Himalayan region located near Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim. It has about 50 different kinds of tree species. The garden is a mixture of well-nursed tropical and temperature plants.

There is a small play space for children including swings etc. The serene nature and the calm and pleasant weather make it the finest spot for spending some quality time with family or the loved ones.
