1. Sela Pass

2. Tawang Monastery

Tawang Monastery is situated in the valley of the Tawang River, near a small town in the northwestern part of Arunachal Pradesh. It is also known as “Garden Namgyal Lhatse” which means “Celestial paradise in a clear night”. Tawang monastery in Arunachal Pradesh is ranked as the second-largest monastery in the world after Borobudur in Indonesia. This is founded by Merak Lama Lodre Gyamtso in the year 1860-1861 AD under the wishes of 5th Dalai Lama, Ngawang Lobsang Gyatso.

The Monastery is 3-storied building enclosed by a 925Ft long compound wall, where there are 65 residential buildings within the wall. The valuable old scriptures mainly Kangyur and Tengyur are present in the Monastery Library. According to 2006, the monastery had 400 monks and 450 monks as of 2010.

Tawang Manuscript conservation center was established in the monastery, which has organized 200 Manuscripts and 31 have been treated for preservation. At the entrance to the Monastery, there is a colorful gate structure known as Kakaling, which is built in the shape of ‘Hit like Structure’.

5. Tawang War Memorial

The Tawang War Memorial is a 40-foot high memorial dedicated to martyrs of the 1962 Sino-India war. This memorial is constructed in the monumentalization of the sacrifices of great Indian Army soldiers who lead their lives to protect the nation.

The visitors can view the names of the brave soldiers on the granite plates and Dalai Lama in 1997 visited this memorial.

This Memorial is well maintained by the Indian Army.
