Rajagopalaswamy Temple History

Rajagopalaswamy Temple located in Mannargudi is dedicated to the Lord Rajagopalaswamy (Form of Lord Krishna). The temple is a huge complex which is extended to an area of about 23 acres of land. This giant temple is also known as the Dakshina Dwaraka. Daily six rituals are been followed and prayers are offered to the Lord. The temple exhibits the image of the deity which is about 156 inches tall. There is a huge water tank in front of the temple where devotees can get a holy dip. The temple celebrates festivals with great joy and enthusiasm. The Chariot festival is one of the major festivals the temple totally exhibits seven prakarams and mandapams, nine theerthams, sixteen gopurams and twenty-four shrines. During the chariot festival, the Utsav murthi is taken out of the temple for the procession.
