Tenkasi Temple History
Kasi Viswanthar Temple Located in Tenkasi is one of the popular Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple exhibits the magnificent Dravidian architecture. Parakkirama Pandian established Tenkasi in 1445 according to the stone inscriptions. It is a myth that Lord Shiva appeared in dreams of Parakkirama Pandian and said to follow the ant’s procession. According to the dream, Pandian followed the ants and found the Shiva Lingam and thereafter started the construction of the temple and established Tenkasi. This beautiful temple has a subway which is regarded as the direct way to Kasi. This is the reason why this temple is known as the Dakshina Kasi. The temple itself is a masterpiece and The temple is one of the massive construction, devotees can get darshan of the Lord even from one kilometre away which is really an amazing construction of the Pandya King.
