Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary is also known as Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary occupies 104 sq. Km in the Singalila Range in Western Sikkim. It is located in the South Sikkim District of Sikkim. It is one of the most attracted places by the domestic as well as foreigners who as fascinated by nature.

The Sanctuary provides an exotic view of snow-capped Kanchenjunga Range. The main attraction of Varsey is approximately 600 varieties of Rhododendron which blooms in the months of March-April. This sanctuary is a home of a wide variety of Rare Flora and Fauna.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit the Sanctuary is from October to May and during the months of April to May, a large variety of flowers bloom and one can witness the beauty of the Sanctuary.

Accommodation:

Rs. 1200 to Rs. 1500 per person is charged depending on the season which includes accommodation and meals in the Sanctuary.

  1. Barsey Trekkers Hut: This is a Trekkers Hut have 2 rooms where 3-4 members share. This is a government hut maintained by and leased to local people around.
  2. Forest Hut: This is reserved for forest department officials.
