Vedagiriswarar Temple History
Kanchi Vedagiriswarar Temple is one of the popular Hindu Temple situated on a hill of Tirukalukundram in Tamil Nadu. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There are two temples one at the foothill and the other right on top of the hill. The temple of the foothill is dedicated to the goddess Parvathi, consort of Lord Shiva. The temple on the top of the hill is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This place is also known as the Pakshi Theerthan which means “Bird’s Holy Lake”. It is said that two eagles visit this temple to consume the offerings from the temple priest.
This culture is been still followed hoping the birds to visit the temple. It is a belief that if complete cleanliness is followed the birds will definitely be visiting the temple. This temple has a great attraction and serene atmosphere. Devotees have to climb a total of 565 steps to reach the temple of Lord Shiva.
