In the year 1972, this area was declares at the Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary. This sanctuary stretches over an area of 975 Sq.Km.
This Sanctuary inhabited by Himalayan musk deer, Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan Goral, Sambar, Barking Deer, Wild pig etc. It is estimated that 32 mammal species are located in this Sanctuary.
Commonly seen birds Green tail sunbird, black faced warbler, Chestnut bellied woodpecker, Snow partridge, Bar tailed treecreeper etc
Jan is the coldest and Jun the warmest month of the year.
Best Time to Visit: Mar- Jun.
