Parvathamalai Temple History

Parvathamali is one of the popular pilgrim destination situated in Thiruvannamalai. On the hillock of Parvathamalai, a shrine is dedicated to Lord Mallikarjuna (Lord Shiva). It is believed that its existence came by Lord Hanuman taking Sanjeevani Parvathi (Hill), a part of the hill fell down and there came the existence of the pilgrim’s destination. Devotees trek to cross all the hilly area to darshan Lord Shiva. The hill is totally covered with many medicinal plants. It is said that about 119 varieties of medicinal plants are been located over this hill. The view from the top of the hill is breathtaking. The temple has no priest and other facilities. But still, it got its popularity by the eminent power of Lord Shiva and by the devotion of the devotees.
