Mahabalipuram Cave Temples History
Cave Temples located in Mahabalipuram is popularly known for their rock cut carvings and architecture. This construction belongs to the 7th Century of Pallava Period. These structures also called Mandapas or rock-cut caves. These popular structures are covered with bas-reliefs. The Mahishasuramardhini Cave Temple exhibits the most amazing sculptures panels. These cave temples and their architecture stands among the World Heritage Site by UNESCO during the Year of 1984.
Mahabalipuram shows a total of eight rock-cut cave temples they are the Mahishasuramardini, Varaha, Krishna, Trimurti, Kotikal, Tiger, Panchapandava and Atiranachanda. These are the eight beautifully carved rock-cut monuments which have won the position in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
