Puliakulam Vinayagar Temple is located in the Coimbatore city dedicated to Lord Ganesh. The temple is also known as Arulmigu Mundhi Vinayagar Temple. The idol of Ganesh is 20 feet high and 11 feet wide. This is regarded as the largest Ganesh idol of Asia. The temple can be reached very easy that can be escaped from the busy world. A large number of devotees reach the temple to get the divine power of the Lord.

The idol here is known as Vighnaharta and is believed as visiting this temple will relieve the sufferings and the pains. The dedication of the sculptors can be seen in the making of the Idol.  The temple priests perform all the important poojas in the temple and also as per the devotee’s request. As Lord Ganesh is treated as the first god to offer Pooja for auspicious day or functions, people offer lots of flowers and coconuts to the Lord.

Architecture

The idol is seen sitting on the lotus flower with a pot of nectar which he is having through its trunk. Sculptors took 6 years to complete the idol. The weight of the idol is 190 tones. The idols have 4 hands, one hand holds a piece of Mahabharata writings, the other holds the Angus, one holding jack fruit and in the other lotus flower.

Festivals

Vinayaka Chaturthi the birthday of Lord Ganesh. Celebrated in the months between August to September. On this day the idol will be decorated with the garlands and ornaments which are called the ‘Raja Alankaram’.

Tamil New Year is another festival celebrated on 14^th April every year. This is also called as Chithirai Kani in regional language.

Sankatahara Chaturthi celebrated once in every month according to Hindu Calendar.

Timings

The temple will be open from morning 5:30 AM till afternoon 1:00 PM and from evening 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
