Assam is famous for tourism, every year Assam welcomes a great population of tourists visiting Assam. Various hill stations, museums, national parks, waterfalls, pilgrimage sites and many others which grabs up a bulk of tourist population towards it. There are different types of hill stations which all are unique in their own way. The Umrangshu is one of the famous hill station of Assam, the Umrangshu is situated at the borders of Assam and Meghalaya. The Umrangshu is about 112 kilometres from Haflong.

The Umrangshu is famous for its natural beauty, also there is a natural hot spring named Garampani from Umrangshu at a distance of 7 kilometres. It is said that the Garampani is rich in medicinal properties. The North East Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) with their charge has established a Hydel Plant known as Kapili Hydro – Electric Project. The Hydel Plant is at a distance of 19 kilometres from Umrangshu to the hot water spring (Garampani), and near to this spot there is also a lake emerged out. All these attracting spots pull the visitors from various parts of the states.

Umrangshu shows frequent rainfalls, the Umrangshu looks more beautiful during November to March.  The Umrangshu can be easily reached by the surface transport. The visitors visit the Umrangshu for its serene beauty.
