Vellingiri Hill Temple is also known as Velliangiri Andavar Temple the most famous temple in Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva worshiped as Swayambu. One can have all the 5 lingams Darshan at one place unlike the Shiva temples in India. The hill is 8127 Feet above the sea level. The Hills are the part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve which is situated on the Western Ghats border of Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu.

In Olden days, the temples are designed as spiritual centers to give the spirituality in the devotees who visit the temple for Darshan, but now the temple is not constructed in that form. To get the spiritual nature Isha foundation President Sri Jaggi Vasudev himself founded the temple Sri Dhyanalinga Temple located on the foothills of Velliangiri Hills. The temple was constructed on June 24th 1999. Since then the temple is regarded as the great spiritual center and is successful in expanding the temple.

The 5 faces of Lingam are Lord Shiva, Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra, Maheshwara and Sadasiva. This is the place where Lord Shiva performed the cosmic dance on the request of Parvati Devi also known as Umadevi.

As per the legends, to find out who is superior in the Adiseshan and Vayu Bhagavan, Adiseshan encircled the Kailasam, Vayu to remove the encircle created a santamarutham. As Vayu created the Santamarutham, 8 Kodumudigal fell from the Kailasam in 8 different places. The 8 places are Thirukalahasti, Thiruchiramalai, Thiruenkoimalai, Thirugonamalai, Velliangiri Mountains at Rajathagiri and Swethagiri.
