Har Ki Pauri is one of the most famous ghats, oldest centers in India on the banks of River Ganga, located in Uttarakhand. The place is having large footprints, Lord Vishnu, in the stone wall. This is literally meant as Har means “Lord Shiva”, Ki means “Of” and Pauri means “Steps”.

Har Ki Pauri is believed to be the exit point of Ganges from the mountains and enter into the plains. This is the place where Ganga Aarthi is offered and is considered as Brahm Kund. Brahm Kund is the place where Nectar (Amrit) fell and is considered to be the most auspicious ghats in Haridwar. Numbers of devotees gather here from all over the world and have a dip will wash away their sins and gives Moksha.

During Kumbh Mela, the ghat witnesses the devotees converge and festivities which is celebrated one’s in 12 years, Ardh Kumbh Mela the is celebrated one’s in 6 years, Punjabi Festival of Vaisakhi a harvest festival celebrated in the month of April.

On the remembrance of Bhatrihari, the brother of King Vikramaditya this Ghat is constructed. During the half-moon, the diyas were lit and were left into the Ganga River. This is believed that that the footprint of Lord Vishnu made the area hallow and the riverbank is formed.

Har Ki Pauri Aarti Timings

Every Evening at Sunset, priests offer Ganga Aarti to the river and thousands of devotees witness this event. The priest offers Aarti by holding a large fire bowl in the hands and start ringing gongs, chanting Ganga Mata and Lord Shiva. The Riverbank presents the most enchanting sight.
