Religious Importance of Kashi Vishwanath Yatra
Kashi is a scared city throughout the time period of earth. There is no place as dear to Lord Shiva as Kashi, which is not abandoned by him as well as his consort-Parvati even at the time of deluge. Kashi is blessed with eternal presence of Lord Shiva. Even if a person living in Kashi, happens to be sinner, he has nothing to fear because Lord Shiva protect himself. One who lives far from Kashi but remembers it with reverence become absolved of all his sins.
Sage Agatsya asking to Lord Kartikey about Kashi , “Are there not many holy places on this earth ? Yet which of them would equal in the balance one speck of Kashi’s dust? Are there are not many other rivers running to sea? Yet which of them is like the River of Heaven (Ganges) in Kashi? Are there not many fields of liberation on earth? Yet no one equals the smallest part of the city never forsaken by Shiva. The Ganges, Shiva, and Kashi : Where this trinity is watchful, no wonder here is found the grace that leads one on to perfect bliss!”
