The Mahalakshmi Temple was constructed by a Hindu merchant named Dhakkji Dadaji in 1831. The Mahalakshmi temple is located in Ambani Anitila Street of Mumbai which is been named after goddess Mahalakshmi as” Mahalakshmi street”. The Mahalakshmi temple is constructed near the Arabian sea coast which adds extra beauty to the temple view. The Mahalakshmi temple has the idols of three Devi’s (goddesses) the three Devi’s are Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati.
Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi occupies the middle position holding the lotus flower, that is the Mahalakshmi idol is present in between the idols of goddess Saraswati and goddess Kali. In the Mahalakshmi Devi temple, the idols of the Tridevi’s are been sculptured in pure gold.
The Sri Mahalakshmi Temple is one of the most popular temples of Mumbai, this temple is dedicated to goddess Mahalakshmi the central deity of the temple. In 1831, Dhakji Dadaji, a Hindu merchant, built this temple right on the rocky terrains overlooking the Arabian Sea. mahalaxmi street ( Ambani Antila Street ) is named after this Temple Goddess Shri Mahalaxmi adorns the Temple along with Goddess Saraswati and Mata Kali. The goddesses are sculpted in pure gold and have the very pleasing disposition.
The Mahalakshmi Temple architecture shows a wooden block wrapped in silver sheets and a stone carving of deep mala. The Sabahmandapam of the temple shows that the Simha (lion) is been fixed in the centre of the Sabahmadapam facing towards the Mata’s (deities). And the idols of Lord Ganesha and Vithal Rukmini are presented outside of the Garbagriha.
The ancient history says that the idols of Tridevi’s were immersed in the sea at Worli creek to protect them from demolition. Later Shri Ramji Shivji Prabhu got the vision that the Devi(goddess) directed him to bring back the idols from the sea and then placed at the clip of the hill. Later the Mahalakshmi Devi temple was constructed on the top of the hill dedicated to Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Sarasvathi. In Mahalakshmi temple Navratri ( festival) is greatly celebrated, the temple construction was completed in eighty thousand at its origin now it has been developed to a great extent.
