Along also Known as Aalo, is the headquarters of West Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh.  Along as of 2011, it had a population of 20,700. The majority of Aalo’s population consists of Galo People and Galo is the main language. Along have a good road network and the road which runs from north Lakhimpur to the capital of  Itanagar, connect the town of Along to the city.

Yomgo River Festival – 11th to 15th of January.

                Along Airport to Along – 2 KM.

                Naharlagun to Along – 353 KM. 

                State Transport Bus Station to Along – 2 KM.

Places to Visit in Along:

1. Mechuka:

Mechuka is the forested valley, surrounded by pine trees and thornbushes. Mechuka is 180 KM northwest of Along and is 29 KM away from Indo- China border. The name Men-chu-Kha means medicinal water of snow where men are medicine, chu is water and kha is snow though kha also means mouth. The popular name for Menchukha is Menchukha.

Mechukha is gradually becoming a popular tourist destination in Arunachal Pradesh due to its scenic beauty, exotic tribes, gentle hills, and snow-capped mountains and River Siyom. The Siom River, which flows through Mechukha also provides a scenic view in the valley.

2. Mithun & Jersey Cross Breeding Farm:

Mithun & Jersey Cross Breeding Farm is situated in the West Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh. It is said to be a major milestone in milk production in the State. The cattle here are nurtured in the most hygienic conditions. The tourists can see the crossbreeds of Jersey Cows and already cross breed-animal Mithun.

How to Reach Mithun & Jersey Cross Breeding Farm: Farm is 30 KM away from the main town in Kamaki.               

Best Time To Visit: October to April.

3. Hanging Bridge:

Hanging Bridge in Along, Arunachal Pradesh is the local bridge constructed on the River Siang. It is made of Cane and Bamboo. The bridge is the major connectivity for the tribes to other hilly areas which is 60 to 70 Metres long and is one of the Along Tourist Places. The visitors can watch and talk about the skills of the locals. Fishing is great fun in the waters near the bridge.

4. Kamaki Hydro Power Dam:

Kamaki Hydro Power Dam is situated in the beautiful hill station in Along. The dam is surrounded by various floras since it is a water reserve. Visitors can notice various species of birds flocking their way in and around the dam.

5. Ramakrishna Ashram:

Ramakrishna Ashram is a memorial of Shri Ramakrishna Paramahansa, the most famous destinations in Arunachal Pradesh. The Ashram is a storehouse of the information on the life of Ramakrishna, Maa Sharada, and Swami Vivekananda.

How to Reach Ramakrishna Ashram: Along to Ashram – 5 KM.

6. Darka Village:

Darka Village is the 2nd popular village to visit on a visit to Along, the sub-district of the town. This village is 6KM far from Along. Flanked by a dense forest, the village is inhabited by the people of Galo Tribe.
