Kalighat Temples History :
Sosthi Tala:
It is a rectangular shrine which is three feet height having a small cactus plant. Under the tree, On a shrine, three stones are placed side by side and named it has Goddesses “Sosthi”,”Sitola”, and “Mongol Chandi”, from left to right. This is a very holy place and names it as “Sosthi Tala”, or “Monosha Tala”. This place of the shrine is the Samadhi of Barhmananda giri.This shrine was constructed by Gobinda Das Mondal in 1880.
Here all the priests are females and NO daily prayers or offering bhog is done here. Here the Goddesses is considered as a part of KaliMatha.
Harkath Tala:
It is the place for animal sacrificing called Balipeeth side by side. There are 2 types of stones available big stone is to sacrifice for the larger animals like Buffaloes and small stone is used to sacrifice for the smaller animals like goats,sheeps etc.
Radha – Krishna Temple:
This temple is located inside of the main temple exactly on the west side and it is also called as Shamo-Ray temple. It was constructed in the year 1723, by the settlement officer of Mushirabad.In 1843 a zamindar called Uday Narayan Mondal reconstructed the present temple. there is a separate kitchen for vegetarian bhog to Radha Krishna.
The four Shiva temple which is inside the temple was constructed by the Saivite families who retain control over there.
Kundupukur :
This is the Holy tank which is located at the south-east of the temple boundary walls. In past, it was a big tank and called it as a “ Kaku- Kunda”.And it is believed that take a dip in this tank to get the boon for a child because the water in this tank is treated as sacred as that of Ganges.
Nakhuleshwar Mahadev Temple:
This temple is very ancient which is mentioned in the history and it is located at Haldar para lane on the opposite side of the temple behind the police station.
