The Kamakhya temple is one of the holiest pilgrimages it is an ancient Shakti peeth. The Shakthi temple of goddess Kamakhya is situated on the top of the nilachal hill overlooking the Brahmaputra river which is nearly eight kilometres away from the railway station of Guwahati and twenty kilometres from the Guwahati International Airport.

The Kamakhya can be easily reached by roadways as the taxis, buses and rickshas…etc are regularly and easily available. The Kamakhay temple is dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya which is one of the 51 shakti peetas, Maa Kamakhya temple is an ancient auspicious temple famous among the Hindu religion and especially it plays an extreme importance among the tantric believers and worshipers, sages…etc.

The greatest glory and shimmer of the tantric powers have been in scripted on the pillars of  Allahabad of Samudra Gupta. The Devotees from all over India also the people from other countries heavily visit the Kamakhya temple during Ambubachi and Monusha pooja . The Kamakhya temple is been centred with a construction dedicated to  Mahavidyas . The goddess at Kamakhya is worshipped in the form yoni which means “potent magical influence” (Japan) inside the Sanctorum which a cave with rock stairs leading to the goddess. The hill resembles the body of  Lord Shiva, it is said in the ancient history the hill turned to blue hence called Nilachal which resembles the blue colour of the Lord Shiva’s neck neelkant.
