The annual and popular event celebrated in Puri Jagannath temple is the Rath Yatra which is also known as Gundicha Yatra, Chariot Festival, Dasavatara and Navadina Yatra. It is believed that Lord Jagannath the other form of Vishnu wishes to visit his birthplace at this session hence this auspicious eve is celebrated.

During Rath Yatra 3 Chariots are pulled :

• Nandighosa – Lord Jagannath’s Chariot – 45.6 feet (18 Wheels )
• Taladhvaja – Chariot of Lord Balaram’s – 45 feet (16 Wheels)
• Devadalana – Chariot of Goddess Subhadra’s – 44.6 feet (14 Wheels)

Bahuda Yatra	At Gundicha Temple (For 9 Days)
Suna Vesa	After Bahuda Yatra (11th Day)
