Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located at the source of Godavari River. Trimbakeshwar is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. The specialty of this Jyotirlinga is the Linga in the temple is in the form of 3-faced embodying Tridev -Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva.

The temple was constructed by 3rd Peshwa Balaji Bajirao on the site of the old temple. There are 4 entry gates on 4 sides (East, West, North, South).

As per the spiritual inception the East direction denotes the beginning, west denotes Maturity, South denotes the fulfillment and North stands for the Revelation.

In 1954 the Sansthan was registered under public Trust registration act, from then the Sansthan takes care of daily 3 times puja and all other festivals and gala carnivals of the year.

Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga Temple Architecture:

This ancient black stone temple has a strongly appealing architecture and sculpture. The temple complex is big and spacious. The temple room has a place to sit and worship or meditate.

The actual temple room that houses the Jyotirling around 8-9 feet below. One can conveniently view the Shivlinga from ground level and there is also a big rectangular mirror placed strategically from pilgrims/viewers to have darshan.

The Gold Mask of Tridev (Brahma Vishnu Mahesh), studded with precious stones, crowns the actual linga is displayed only on Mondays or during Shivratri festival. Some parts of the walls inside the temple room have various coins stuck on them. These coins symbolize the faith of devotees who visit here.
