The Nandankanan Zoological Park located in Bhubaneshwar of Orrisa is located at a distance of 20 Kms from the Capital city that is Bhubaneshwar. The Nandankam after the dense forests of Chandaka, Nandankam stands for the first captive Gharial breeding centre of India. The Gharial literally means the “Garden of Pleasure “.

The Nandankanan National park shows a wide range of biodiversity and also enhancing white tiger safari, boating and lion safaris, ropeways…etc. The Nandankanam Zoological park shows 34 white tigers population in it, around 67 varieties of mammals, 81 species of birds and 18 varieties of crocodiles. The Nandankanam is known as the first breeding place for the black panthers, the zoological park is about an area of  4.4 Sq Km exhibiting a great variety of flora and fauna.

The Nandankanan is a native of the migratory birds, so a variety of different kinds of birds can be seen in the migratory sessions of the birdies.The rare kinds of bird species like the yellow macaw, open billed stork, blue macaw, green-winged macaw…etc can be seen here nearly 75 kinds of rare variety of birds can be seen. the Nandankanam Zoological park shows some of the highly rated spots like Nandankanan Botanical Garden, Hirapur, Atri, Dhauli, Khandagiri and Udaygiri.

The Nandankanan was established in the year of 1960. The National Geographical Magazine proposed the Nandankanan zoopark to a sophisticated Tiger Reserve. It is declared as tiger reserve because it resides about 34 white tigers. In

1980 three tiger cubs were born from two normal coloured tiger parents. at present, the area of Nandankanan was extended to an extent of 4. 37 sq Km and the protected area is about 3. 62 sq Km. The Nandankanam is famous for its serene beauty and a variety of wild animals and fun riding with toy trains, boatings…etc.  It is famous and very much attractive to both inland and Outland.
